Author Description:
My name is Brian Barr. I am a published fiction author. Along with novels and short stories, I've also written comic books, including the Empress series with Chuck Amadori. I am NOT the author of God's Plan for Us, written by some other Brian Barr.

My debut novel is Carolina Daemonic, Book I: Confederate Shadows. My second novel is Psychological Revenge: The First Super Inc. Novel, and I have a short story collection called Daemensions. All books are out now on Amazon, for Kindle and Print.

Carolina Daemonic is a dystopian alternative timeline urban fantasy-horror with LGBT, steampunk, and occult elements.

Psychological Revenge is a fun, campy superhero novel with zany villains and lots of action.

Check out my short stories, some of which are in anthologies, a few reprinted on Kindle for .99 cents.

Interview Excerpt

Next: I will be putting out my next novel, Serpent King: Shadow and Light, very soon.

Great covers: One of my goals is to have my own look with my books and for my brand. I love comic book art, so I’m hiring comic book artists for my short story and novel covers. I collaborate with my favorite artists, Sullivan Suad and Zilson Costa…

Carolina Daemonic Short Stories serial: I think the short stories get people curious about the novels, but I’m not sure about the sales crossover. My short stories first appeared in anthologies and collections, before I self-published them.

M.R. Mathias’ The C.A.M. Charity Anthologies: It was a pleasure being featured in those anthologies and I hope they help people suffering with cancer. My favorite person to connect with in the project was Lucas Pederson. He’s a good dude.

Giveaways: I have noticed that free book giveaways help sales. Reviews follow giveaways and generate interest from people to buy the book as well.

Primary genre: I write science fiction, horror, and fantasy, speculative fiction in general. My best marketing approach has been to write what I like to write, promote online and in other venues. I just stay true to my craft and what I like to do

Great blog: My primary goal is to write and enjoy what I write, and share my work with people.

Writing in several different formats: I like writing short and long fiction. I write a story and connect the dots until I feel a story is finished. I like writing them all equally- long fiction challenges me to maintain a story and the intricate details, while writing a short story challenges me to pack a lot of elements into less space while maintaining a flow.

Author Description:
In April 2015, my wife Natalie graciously let me quit my job and pursue writing as a full time occupation. I have worked as a landscaper, a barista, a teacher, a land surveyor, a fork truck driver, a tutor, a sandwich artist, a dish washer, a security guard, a salesman, and a web designer; but now I find myself a spinner of tales. ?

I have a passion for writing crime fiction and fantasy, so that is what you will find in my stories.

Interview Excerpt

Next: The Crimson Serpent and I'm about four fifths of the way through it. I hope to start pitching it to agents and publishers this fall. If it doesn't interest any of them, I'll self publish it just shy of Christmas.

Social media: I have met so many authors on twitter. It's pretty unbelievable. I try really hard to learn from the experiences of others, and people are fairly generous about sharing their experience on social media. Twitter lets me take it all in via bite sized pieces.

Converted Narcotic Daydreams into an audio book: The impact? More money. :) I haven't really figured out what the audiobook audience is, but if you can find a good producer/voice actor, I highly recommend ACX.

Short stories: I don't think they had much of an impact on the sales of Narcotic Daydreams. One thing that I've discovered since I started all this, is that there doesn't seem to be much crossover between readers of gritty crime fiction and readers of fantasy stories.

M.R. Mathias’ The C.A.M. Charity Anthologies: I am extremely lucky to know M.R. Mathias. He is a font of wisdom in the writing business and will drop most anything (except a fish) to help answer any questions that I can think up.

Free books: I do not give any of my books away for free... I However, when it comes to my novels, I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for, and my stories are better than free. This may be detrimental to my long term sales, but it is a decision that I made early on and I will be sticking to it.

Primary genre: Crime fiction is easier to write (for me) than fantasy. However, I have more fun when I'm writing fantasy. I am a fan of word of mouth. My main goal is to keep plugging away, and keep writing, and maybe one of these days, tons and tons of people will hear about my books and buy them.

Plotting: I write a very rough outline of the overall story arc. Then I break it up into smaller pieces. Then I'll take the first chunk (around a fifth of the story) and break it up into chapters. Then I write about three pages of notes per chapter. After I have all that fleshed out, I set my notes beside my keyboard and start typing. I keep a small notebook and a golf pencil in my back pocket at all times.

Amazon Author Profile

Author Description:
Romance author Bonnie Edwards lives with her husband and pets on the rainy coast of British Columbia. You'll find humour & tears in her earthy, irreverent, love stories. Sometimes her books have a paranormal twist, likes curses & ghosts, other times not, but they’re always entertaining and guarantee a happy ending.

With three ongoing romance series (steamy paranormal, sexy contemporary and heartwarming Christmas) & contemporary family novels, she rarely spends a day without writing. She has written novels, novellas and short stories for Kensington Books, Harlequin Books, Carina Press, and Robinson (UK) although now she publishes her work herself. Look for more exciting releases throughout 2017 and 2018…

I live in the majestic Pacific Northwest where the rain makes it easy to sit in an office and write. But, even the rain can't make me give up my long walks in the woods where I dream up storylines and fun characters.

Interview Excerpt

Next: One Crazy Christmas will be available in the third annual Spicy Christmas Kisses, a boxed set of holiday-themed romances in early November. One Crazy Christmas will be book 3 of my Christmas Collection series. Diamond Trouble! That may be out even sooner.

Social media: Most authors use it to help get the word out about their books and I’m no different. But, I think most of us see it as a necessary part of the release process, even those of us who are (were) traditionally published. Building a following is an ongoing process, but until recently, I was one of those authors who hoped that good books would be found by interested readers, but I’ve learned differently. Now, I’m trying to actively seek newsletter subscribers and reviewers for my work. It’s the hardest part of the writing business for me.

Personal appearances: I may go to the Emerald City Writers Conference in Bellevue, WA in October. If anyone wants to know what I’m up to and where I’ll be, it’s best to sign up for my newsletter through my website.

Great covers: I was lucky to find an artist who shared my eye for images. I kept clicking on her pre-made covers time and again because I liked her work. We ended up doing several covers together and we came up with the orange for my name and titles, the fonts, etc.

I’ve written only two short stories…but I’ve sold each one into print and had each included in anthologies so it looks like I’ve written more. I plan on another with a heroine in her early 70s who takes a chance on love again. She is the matriarch of the family from my Christmas Collection.

Author bundles: I loved the effect my earlier bundles had on crossover sales. I think more than a few new readers have found me through the bundles. And finding new readers was what I hoped would happen.

Free books: One of the most effective things for me is having Perdition House Part 1 An Erotic Saga set to permanently free. It’s a long book and flows naturally into Part 2. Over time I added 3 more novellas and I swear, one day I’ll write the madam’s story.

Primary genre: I mostly write contemporary, steamy romance, but I was way ahead of that market when I started writing. I had manuscripts rejected because I had too much sex in them. (They said it was very well-written, though.) THEN, erotic romance began and I was ready! Now, those books are no more than steamy…not really considered avant-garde anymore.

Indie author: I use copy editors, content editors for longer, more in-depth stories, a cover artist. But I’d love help with the promotion and marketing. We’ll see how the rest of the year goes and how many more titles I can get up for sale.

Author Description:
Sylvie Grayson loves to write about suspense, romance and attempted murder and has published contemporary romantic suspense novels, all about strong women who meet with dangerous odds, stories of tension and attraction. She has also written The Last War series, a sci fi/fantasy adventure, the first books, Khandarken Rising, and Son of the Emperor which were released in 2015. Weapon of Tyrants, The Last War: Book Four was released this year.

She has lived most of her life in British Columbia, Canada, in spots ranging from Vancouver Island on the west coast to the North Peace River country and the Kootenays in the beautiful interior. She has been an English language instructor, a nightclub manager, an auto shop bookkeeper and a lawyer. She lives in southern British Columbia with her husband on a small piece of land near the Pacific Ocean.

Interview Excerpt

Next: I also write sci fi/fantasy in a series called The Last War. I have Prince of Jiran: Book Five coming out next. We are just working on the final edits and a cover. Back blurb reads—Prince Shandro disagrees with his father, Sovereign of the Penrhy tribe, on nearly every issue that arises between them. But his goal is to uphold the family values in spite of Sovereign Pollack’s conniving moves. Then he is sent on a mission across the mountains to Khandarken to bring back Princess Chinata, a bride for Emperor Carlton’s Advisor. In exchange, they are able to enter into a peace agreement that provides protection against invasion. This seems a good trade for the Penrhy tribe, as Carlton is hovering on their borders with his need for more land. However, not far into the return journey, it becomes apparent someone is not keeping their part of the peace accord.

Great covers: I use Steven Novak for my book covers. http://www.novakillustration.com/
Steven does all kinds of illustrations, and is extremely patient with me as I muddle through what I am searching for in my covers.

Author bundles: The idea for the Dreams and Promises anthology came out of Canada’s 150th Birthday. The sales impact has been good—we are all pleased with the action on the collection itself and the effect on sales of our other books. I belong to a group of authors who critique and support each other, and we worked together on this. It was a first for us.

Giveaways: I have given books away when engaged in promotions with other authors. I can’t say the effect has been obvious. I am always interested in helping readers find my work, but I think giving away all your books is probably counter-productive. My goal for giveaways has been to build a reader base or a list of followers for my website, and that has worked.

Primary genre: I’d love to say I have one genre but the truth is I write in two areas. First is contemporary romantic suspense. I like romance, but I think the suspense element helps to focus the story and add excitement and interest. The second is sci fi/fantasy. I have a series called The Last War.

Newsletter objective: I have a newsletter readership of between 3000 and 4000. It’s been exciting to share my journey with them, and each time I send out a newsletter, I find a jump in sales and in people signing up to my website.

Post with Profile + Interview: HBS Author's Spotlight

Amazon Author Profile

Author Description:
Australian author of crime fiction with a topical edge.

Catherine's love of reading and dislike of working for a living led her to the only possible solution -- write fast-paced mysteries that readers will struggle to put down. Not content to simply produce page-turners, Catherine strives to leave the reader with more than who did it to think about. Cellular memory, ancestry, genetic therapy, and cyberbullying are just some of the topics involved in the Dark series, as Detective Charlie Cooper and his partner Joe Quinn solve mysteries and murders in the heart of Sydney.

Interview Excerpt

Next: Dark Paradise, being a novella, was a lot of fun to write. I enjoy the shorter style, it gives me a break from the more meaty stuff. Speaking of which, the next Dark book is called Dark Edges, and will involve the death of a sports star. It looks at the issue of drugs in sport, both recreational and performance enhancing.

Great covers: My book covers have definitely been a journey. What you see now is the third iteration of my covers. When I started out, I went with something pretty basic. Not surprisingly, they didn’t sell well. Then I hired an artist, who was a fantastic artist, but I still felt the covers weren’t quite there. I decided I needed someone who’s sole job was designing book covers, so not only would I have great art, but they’d convey the genre and my brand instantly. I worked hard with the cover artist I eventually chose…

Novellas: I love writing the shorter style. They’re about half the length of a normal book for me, and they’re written entirely from Cooper’s point of view. They don’t include a topical societal issue, like the main books, they’re just a fun read with a murder to solve. I wrote the first one, Dark City, as an introduction to the series.

Author bundles: It’s hard to tell what the impact of the bundle has been on my other sales. My book is about halfway through the bundle, so there are still probably a lot of people who bought that bundle who haven’t read it yet. But I have a few reviews on Dark Heart who mention they got it in the bundle, and they’ve become fans, so there’s definitely been some impact. It’s hard for us indie authors to get noticed in the crowd, and bundles like these are another way to get your work out there.

The Dark Series boxed set sells quite well, actually. I find a lot of people read the prequel novella, Dark City, decide they can’t get enough of Coop, and go straight to the boxed set. If you know you’re going to read the series, it represents quite a saving off the price of the individual books. Having said that, I still sell enough of the individual books that I don’t think the boxed set is cannibalising those sales.

Free books: I know giving books away for free goes against the grain for a lot of authors… But I got past that, and to be honest giving Dark Heart away for free was the best thing I ever did.

Primary genre: My primary genre is mystery/thriller. I like to think of the Dark Series as mysteries with a topical edge. I think the best marketing tool has been having book one permafree, and running some promotions associated with that. I was lucky enough to get a Bookbub ad for it earlier this year, which really boosted sales of the rest of the series. Besides that I ran Amazon AMS ads for it, which I think kept up the momentum.

Reader list: I do have a mailing list, I call them my reader’s group. They get Dark City free as a thank you for joining. I email them once a month with updates on my work, as well as links to reviews on my website of other books I’ve been reading. I encourage them to write me back and let me know of any good books they’ve read in the genre, and I then also share those with the group in the next newsletter.

Living in Australia: I love being an Aussie, and I make sure that comes across in my books. Sydney is my favourite city in the world, so being able to set my series here is a great thrill. Having said that, most of my readers are in the US. I also have quite a following in the UK, which I love because my Mum is British…

Getting reviews: Reviews are hard to come by, aren’t they? Especially with Amazon’s rules, which make it tricky to even ask readers to leave a review. I was lucky in that a lot of the people who’ve downloaded Dark Heart for free have gone back and left a review, which has been really nice.

Interview Excerpt

Next: loved writing Through the Darkness, the Lightkeeper Series is so different from all my other books that's it's fun to take a break from the real world and dive into the paranormal realm. My current project is a novella, which releases in a boxed set in November. This book will actually be the beginning to a series I'll be co-writing with author Stacy Eaton, which will feature two female detectives who get thrown together as unlikely partners.

Social media: Twitter and I have a love hate relationship. I love that I have the following I do, however I hate it that I forget to post there! Actually, I have built some fantastic relationships over the years through social media, not only with other writers, but with readers as well.

Great covers: The process of creating one of my covers ranges from easy peasy to a real headache, depending on if I already have an idea in mind, which isn't always the case. If I already have an idea, then I research the images and send her a bunch, tell her what 'feel' I'm going for with that particular book, then we play around with images, fonts and design until we find something that matches the image in my head.

Writing novellas can be a lot of fun, I highly recommend anyone to try their hand at! It's a fun way to take a short story from point A to point B without investing a large amount of time, depending on how quickly you write. Unless it's a contracted novella, I don't always go into a storyline with the mindset that this particular book will be full length or a short story.

Author bundles: These sets are a fun way of collaborating with a large group of authors and getting your name into places it wouldn't have otherwise gone. The main objective of boxed sets varies depending on the group, some are solely in it to make one of the lists where others are about getting sales and boosting their own readership.

Unfortunately, the market has been inundated with the free book giveaways that authors have seen a decline in the benefits. It used to be that doing giveaways boosted sales for other books in that series, however it is to the point where readers get so many freebies loaded on their devices that they aren't even reading the books they get, let alone grabbing up the next book in the series.

Primary genre: I don't really have a primary genre, per se. I enjoy reading romantic suspense, contemporary romance and paranormal romance, so I think it's natural I would want to write in all three of those genres. My marketing approach is different depending on which book I'm releasing.

Co-author books: Misty Evans and I have been dear friends for a number of years and I've always enjoyed reading her Deadly books, so when she suggested we co-write a novella in that series, it seemed like a good fit. The response from the readers was huge! So huge in fact that we are currently in the process of getting Deadly Holiday put together, which will release this December. Co-writing has been an eye opening experience, and works differently with every team.

Author Description:
Greg Spry has immersed himself in science fiction since he was old enough to obliterate Lego star ships with Lincoln Log photon torpedoes. He writes fast-paced yet thought-provoking science fiction with thoughtful, tortured characters caught up in ethical dilemmas where the fate of the universe hangs in the balance. He's a forward-thinking person who always has an eye on the future, although he yearns for the good old days when there were nine planets in the Solar System (props to you, Pluto).

Since graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2001, Greg has worked in the IT and computer programming industry. During that time, he's learned web design, search engine marketing, entrepreneurship, and other skills which help aid him in developing his author platform. He's also participated in multiple writing and critique groups, honing his craft while helping others to do the same. An M.S. Space Systems degree from the Florida Institute of Technology helps him craft sci-fi that's as realistic as possible.

Interview Excerpt

Next: I’m presently working on the fourth and final book in the Beyond Saga, Beyond Existence. After traveling back to the past in Beyond Yesterday (book 3), Maya must somehow foil an occupation by aliens that are much more advanced than humans in book 4. I’m also beginning to write the first episode of Bears in Space, a series of sci-fi comedy short stories.

Social media: Honestly, I was diligent about social media for the first couple years after I published my first book, Beyond Cloud Nine. Tweeting and posting to various sites took up a great deal of time while generating minimal sales. Then I was lucky enough to have a great promotional service find me because they liked the author platform that I had built. The quarterly promos that they do generate many more sales than my best social media efforts.

Great covers: I run my cover creation process like a project manager in a software company. I draft specs with detailed instructions and stock images for the designers that convey my vision for each cover. Then it’s an iterative process of them creating drafts, my providing feedback on the drafts, them making tweaks, and repeat until we get to the final design.

Support groups: Independent Author Network (IAN) plus I'm a member of the Fantasy & Science Fiction Network (FSNet), Rave Reviews Book Club (RRBC), and several other groups.

Free books: The strategy used by my promo company is to get thousands of people to download my book for free. Then when the book switches back to costing money, people buy it in larger numbers due to the visibility it gained. I also give books away in Goodreads giveaways in hopes that people will review them

My primary genre is science fiction and primary sub-genres are space opera and hard science fiction.

Plots: I brainstorm, outline, write, and repeat. I create an initial rough draft with plenty of holes and then add the meat in the second draft that goes to beta readers and the editor. Before I start writing, I typically know how I want to start the book, how I want to end the book, the key characters, the main plot points, and a handful of scenes that will occur throughout the book.

Reader list: one of the most important things any author can do is maintain a mailing list of readers. I use MailChimp to maintain my list. The members are the champions of your writing. They are fans who are most likely to leave all-important reviews…

Great blog: I should really post more often than I do. And yes, when I read and enjoy a book, I make a point to try to generate exposure for the author by making it visible on my sites and social media.

Getting reviews is one area where I still struggle. I first try to get my beta readers and mailing list members to leave honest reviews for each new release. Now that I’ve published three books, I’ve generated a short list of bloggers and reviewers who have enjoyed my past books. I also do Goodreads giveaways (see above).

Author Description:
Jonathan M Turley (1983-current) was born In Kokomo, Indiana, and grew up in Sharpsville Indiana. Currently studying at Indiana Kokomo University in Graphic design and some Typography. His first Book Chronicles of Bathrex was written and published as an assignment in an editorial and publication class.

Interview Excerpt

Next: Right now, I am currently working on Slippery Thief another story to Chronicles of Bathrex, as for a tease yes.

Book cover creation process: The cover was done in Florida at Fort Myers at a state park. I wanted to find an environment that matched the story so I went down to see a friend of my Orin Buis. He took the photo for me and I loaded it into Photoshop and tweak it. It was a lot of fun dressing up and yes that is me in the cover.

I do have a book that is in the works. I’ve spent several years on the plot, characters, and it’s been a colossus for me. I will drop the title of it but as for a release date there is none. It’s called Legend of Airies and it is an epic.

M.R. Mathias’ The C.A.M. Charity Anthologies: For me it wasn’t about that it was about knowing that each word read on kindle, each book purchased help a child smiled again, gave someone a chance at living, and helping an animal in need.

Time management: During the summer, it’s a bit easier to manage but when school starts up. Things become a bit difficult to manage and let’s face it collage is hard. I play it by ear and write whenever I can. Most of the time I write in the night and play some music in the back ground to help me think.

Primary genre: I’ve always love fantasy ever since I was a child.

Writing: I like Ywriter5 because it has a very nice and clean interface to do this. You can make the character and it brings up a section where you can fill in all the details about the character. As for a time line that has so far been easy to maintain. I don’t have anything majorly complicated yet.

What is your goal?: If I could just write all day I would be happy. I don’t want fame, I don’t want riches, that’s not why I do this. I write because its fun I love it. My goal in life is be simple. I want to create a world with characters that people can read and say I know how that feels, or I’ve been there. Most of all I want to be different from other authors.

Carol E. Wyer is an award-winning author whose humorous books take a light-hearted look at getting older and encourage others to age disgracefully. More recently she has chosen to write for the "dark side" and embarked on a series of thrillers, starting with the gripping #2 best-seller, Little Girl Lost.

Her book Grumpy Old Menopause won The People's Book Prize Award for non-fiction 2015.

Carol has been interviewed on numerous radio shows discussing 'Irritable Male Syndrome' and 'Ageing Disgracefully' and on BBC Breakfast television. She has had articles published in national magazines 'Woman's Weekly' featured in 'Take A Break', 'Choice', 'Yours' and 'Woman's Own' magazines and writes regularly for The Huffington Post.

Carol is a signed author with Bookouture and Delancey Press.

Interview Excerpt

Next: I have another five books lined up in this series, featuring DI Robyn Carter and her team, and all set in Staffordshire, where I live. The Missing Girls, the third book, is due out on September 14th. It's a tense novel, filled with twists, and a surprise that should make readers gasp.

Social media: I love social media purely because it allows me to hook up with my readers and develop relationships with new ones. I was a blogger before I became a published writer and many of my relationships grew from blogging. You may think me naive, but I was surprised at how effective twitter, Facebook and more recently, Instagram, have been in garnering interest in my books, and in gaining readers. I treat it all like a giant online party.

Personal appearances: You name it and I've probably done it. I spent most of 2015 at events, signings, gigs, interviews and talks. I've had to cut down my appearances and engagements this year.

Great covers: I absolutely love the cover for Little Girl Lost which was designed by Richard Augustus who also designed covers for Bernard Cornwell and Wilbur Smith's books. I can't take the credit for my covers.

Audio books: I can't say for certain what effect it's had on regular sales, but sales in audiobooks have been excellent and have found me a whole new audience.

Novellas: I've only produced one collection of short stories, called Love Hurts. I wrote humour before I crossed to the 'dark side' and this collection was a change of direction for me, containing some lighter stories and some very dark ones. The idea was to offer them for free on Kindle Unlimited, to give people a taster of my writing.

Primary genre: It was comedy. Now, I'm firmly rooted in crime writing and am unlikely to turn back.

I'm a very late to the reader list party. I got in a complete mess trying to make one. I've got one now, thanks to my publishers, and I will be sending out a newsletter soon. Beforehand, I used social media to stay in contact.

Living in the UK: The audience for my thrillers is wide. They appeal to all ages and groups of people from all over the country. My guess is that they mostly appeal to women, since I get a lot of emails from women saying how much they've enjoyed them. Most of my readers are from the UK…

What would you do if your sister's husband of twelve hours, Clark, was considered a suspect by the police in connection with his rich Uncle Vinny's murder? And the rich uncle just happened to be a member of the Mob?

DeeDee has no choice but to enlist the help of her boyfriend Jake, a private investigator, as well as Al, Uncle Vinny's scary bodyguard, to help her find the murderer and clear Clark's name.

It could have been a number of people, but which one? Was it Uncle Vinny's cousin or his wife? Uncle Vinny had a lot of money, and although he hadn't come by it legally, the color was still green. Or the rogue cop whose father had ended the prostitution rings in Seattle, but was certain Uncle Vinny was the person who had resurrected them. Or perhaps Clark's business colleague who was jealous of Clark's recent promotion? Maybe it was the wedding planner who resented everything Uncle Vinny was giving the newlyweds, particularly the house on Queen Anne Hill. Or even Clark himself? After all, Uncle Vinny gave a toast at the wedding declaring him to be the sole heir of his substantial fortune.

Be careful what you wish for . . .

Before he retired, J. P. Beaumont had looked forward to having his days all to himself. But too much free time doesn’t suit a man used to brushing close to danger. When his longtime nemesis, retired Seattle crime reporter Maxwell Cole, dies in what’s officially deemed to be an accidental fire, Beau is astonished to be dragged into the investigation at the request of none other than the deceased victim himself. In the process Beau learns that just because a long-ago case was solved doesn’t mean it’s over.

Jake Needham
Featured Book: Don’t Get Caught

JACK SHEPHERD IS the kind of lawyer people call a troubleshooter. At least that’s what they call him when they’re being polite. Shepherd is the guy people go to when they have a problem too ugly to tell anyone else about. He locates the trouble, and then he shoots it. Neat, huh? If life were only that simple…

A little money is missing from the Malaysian Development Fund, a sovereign wealth fund run by the Malaysian government. How little? Oh, a billion dollars or so, give or take. Shepherd is tiptoeing around Hong Kong’s financial back alleys looking for Malaysia’s missing money when an old friend from Bangkok dumps a much bigger problem in his lap.

A military coup has just swept over Thailand and the Thai army is holding Thailand’s first female prime minister under house arrest. Her popularity is a major threat to army rule and that’s why things are about to get messy. The army is going to hold a show trial, convict her of corruption, and send her to prison. Then, when she’s behind bars, they’re going to kill her. The only way to save her life is get her out of Thailand before the trial starts, and her friends need some big-time help to pull that off.

Shepherd once lived in Thailand. There was a time when he loved the place, then things went sour and he’s sworn he’ll never go back. But the former prime minister whose life is in danger is a woman with whom Shepherd once had a relationship – well, sort of – and Shepherd is loyal to his friends. He’s also a sucker for a smart, good-looking woman, but of course that has nothing at all to do with it. Whatever the real reason, Shepherd can feel it happening. Thailand is reeling him right back in no matter how hard he struggles to stay away.

Okay, he decides, how hard can it be? Sneak into Thailand, track down Malaysia’s missing money, grab his old friend right out from under the nose of the entire Thai army, and keep her hidden and alive long enough to get them both out of Thailand.

A piece of cake for the troubleshooter, huh?

Author Description:
I grew up in a small rural town in Oklahoma where our favorite entertainment on summer evenings was to sit outside under the stars and tell stories. When I went to bed at night, instead of a lullaby, I got a story. That could be due to the fact that everybody in my family has a singing voice like a bullfrog with laryngitis, but they sure could tell stories--ghost stories, funny stories, happy stories, scary stories.

For as long as I can remember I've been a storyteller. Thank goodness for computers so I can write down my stories. It's hard to make listeners sit still for the length of a book! Like my family's tales, my stories are funny, scary, dramatic, romantic, paranormal, magic.

Besides writing, my interests are reading, eating chocolate and riding my Harley.

Currently I have written four Death by Chocolate mysteries: Death by Chocolate; Murder, Lies and Chocolate; The Great Chocolate Scam; and Chocolate Mousse Attack as well as three Charley's Ghost mysteries: The Ex Who Wouldn't Die, The Ex Who Glowed in the Dark, and The Ex Who Conned a Psychic. More in each series will be released as soon as I can copy them from my brain to the computer!

I have sold fifteen romance novels ranging from comedy to dark suspense under the names Sally Carleen, Sally Steward and Sara Garrett. For these novels, I won several awards including National Readers' Choice, Romantic Times Best Silhouette Romance and two Rita finalist slots. Most of the Silhouettes are available as e-books, and I have e-pubbed six of the out-of-print single titles

Author Description:
PAUL LEVINE is pleased to announce that KINDLE UNLIMITED members in the USA, Canada, India, Italy, Spain, Brazil, and several other countries can now read all his novels for FREE.

Eleven of Levine's novels have hit Number One bestseller status on Amazon in their genres, and in June 2015, he was the Number One bestselling author on Amazon Kindle.

BULLETIN: Now available in paperback, ebook and audio: "Bum Luck." Here's what the South Florida Sun-Sentinel had to say: "Paul Levine continues his trademark brisk pacing with timely storytelling and well-placed humor...The trio [Lassiter, Solomon & Lord] make an unstoppable team — concerned about the law but even more about people."

And this, from Bookreporter.com: "BUM LUCK is a one-sit, must-read novel full of memorable characters and unforgettable vignettes Put BUM LUCK at the top of your spring reading list.”

Levine is best known for two series of legal thrillers: "Jake Lassiter" and "Solomon vs. Lord." The national bestseller "Bum Rap" brings together the protagonists of both series in an explosive murder case set on glitzy South Beach.

"The pages fly by and the laughs keep coming in this irresistible South Florida crime romp. A delicious mix of thriller and comic crime caper." - Booklist (starred review)

On June 8, 2015, "Bum Rap" became the Number One bestseller in the Amazon Kindle Store. It was also the Number One bestseller in "legal thrillers" and "mysteries." On the same day, "To Speak for the Dead" was Number One in "heist thrillers" and "Night Vision" Number One in "international crime thrillers."

Levine's first novel, "To Speak for the Dead," introduced the world to Jake Lassiter, an NFL linebacker turned hard-nosed lawyer. Lassiter has been described by Booklist as "one of the most entertaining series characters in contemporary crime fiction."

In "Bum Rap," Lassiter has had it with sleazy clients, shifty prosecutors, and a legal system out of whack. He's about to hang up his shingle when Victoria Lord calls. Solomon has been arrested for murder. What's worse: the only person who can clear him has disappeared. Now it's up to Lassiter and Lord to track down the witness--a stunning Bar girl--before she's roped in by the feds...or eliminated by the Russian mob.

Levine's other series features squabbling lawyers - and lovers - Steve Solomon and Victoria Lord, who duel in and out of court. The Chicago Sun-Times praised "Solomon vs. Lord" as: "Remarkably fresh and original with characters you can't help loving and sparkling dialogue that echoes the Hepburn-Tracy screwball comedies. A hilarious, touching and entertaining twist on the legal thriller."

Levine has won the John D. MacDonald fiction award and has been nominated for an Edgar Allan Poe Award, the Macavity, the International Thriller Writers Award, the Shamus Award, and the James Thurber Humor Prize. A graduate of Penn State and the University of Miami School of Law, he was a trial lawyer before becoming a full-time novelist.

Title: DON'T GET CAUGHT

Author: Jake Needham

Then, somehow, he became a screenwriter following a series of accidents and coincidences too ridiculous to be believed.

Mr. Needham has lived and worked in Hong Kong, Singapore, and Thailand for over twenty-five years. He, his wife, and their two sons now divide their time between homes in Thailand and the United States.

Title: The Forbidden Lily

Author: Shelley Young

Enter the year 1824 in New Orléans when it’s considered the largest city in the Antebellum South. The flag of France had once waved high above the city’s Square, but now it is the American flag that has been lifted for all to see. In this city there dwells a Creole family by the name of Jennings, and the men in this family are known as the Devils in Nouvelle-Orléans.

The family’s patriarch, Will, has never lived by anyone’s standards but those that have been in his family for many years. His most reputable plantation, Ashleywood, is known secretly amongst slaves near and far as ‘Slaab Heaben.’ And many slaves risk their lives to reach it rather than the North.

But that’s not what this story is all about. It’s about the wealthy family that resides in the Big House on the Ashleywood plantation that consists of men unafraid to pull the trigger on their enemy. It is about loyalty amongst those you learn to trust most, and the Creole Culture as it then existed, and the people of New Orleans trying desperately to hold onto that culture after Americains have arrived and try just as hard to change it.

It’s about a broken family, and failed marriages, and extramarital affairs, and love, and what a father and two sons will go through to get it. It’s about protecting your children, and the people you love when the enemy looks just like you. And forgiveness, and how it can heal a past that many wouldn’t want to remember. And last but not least, it’s about a brothel madam who dabbles with tarot cards, for it is this woman who tells Pierre Jennings to find The Forbidden Lily.

Author Description:
Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA and nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorise and she hadn't taken her first breath!). Her mother said they took Kristen away, put her Mom back in her room, her mother looked out the window, and Gary was on fire (Dr. King had been assassinated four days before). Kristen's Mom remembered thinking it was the end of the world. Quite the dramatic beginning.

Nothing's changed.

Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana and has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus, she's blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her family was (is) loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write. They all lived together on a very small farm in a small farm town in the heartland. She grew up with Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).

Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.

And as she keeps growing, it keeps getting better.

Author Description:
USA Today Bestseller Madison Johns is most known for her Agnes Barton Senior sleuths mystery series featuring lively and zany senior citizen sleuths — Agnes Barton and Eleanor Mason. Her time working at a nursing home was all the inspiration she needed to portray realistic characters that readers have gone on to love. Her first book Armed and Outrageous has solidified her in the publishing world and her series has been well received.

Madison’s aim was simple; she wanted to change how the world viewed senior citizens. Why you could take a stroll through her neighborhood in Mid-Michigan where some of the liveliest seniors live to know she wasn’t that far off the mark.

She knew if she used what she had learned while caring for senior citizens to good use, it would result in something quite unique.

She now works full time as a writer from home where she continues to write cozy mysteries and sweet romances. She also writes historical romances as Clara Kincaid.

Author Description:
Bestselling and award-winning author, P.C. Zick, describes herself as a storyteller no matter what she writes. And she writes in a variety of genres, including romance, contemporary fiction, and nonfiction. She's won various awards for her essays, columns, editorials, articles, and fiction. Currently, crafting fiction—mostly romances—occupies her time.

Many of her novels contain stories of Florida and its people and environment, which she credits as giving her a rich base for her storytelling. She says, "Florida's quirky and abundant wildlife - both human and animal - supply my fiction with tales almost too weird to be believable." The three novels in her Florida Fiction series explore rural, state, and global politics, address the fight between environmentalists and developers and capture the lives of the people struggling to survive it all. With touches of humor and romance, these novels trace Florida’s history, delve into current events, and imagine future impacts of both.

The novels in her Behind the Love contemporary romance series are also set in Florida. From love at first sight, to giving love a second chance to friends turning to lovers, the novels run the spectrum of the contemporary romance genre.
